Choosing The Right Work Gloves

You should not overlook the importance of hand protection when completing various tasks. You may or may not know how to choose the right materials for the job. Gardening tasks require strong materials, but they are built differently than your average construction gloves. Work gloves and their importance are oftentimes overlooked.

For example, using leather-based gloves are good for dangerous jobs such as construction. Knit or canvas material is best used by gardeners. If you deal with a lot of toxic and wet jobs, use material such as latex or nitrile, which is commonly known as rubber. Cowhide material is best used for gutter cleaning jobs. The tough leather has moderate insulation for an extra layer of protection.

In wet conditions, it is common for split cowhide material to stiffen. They usually soften up once you start using them again; it depends on the quality. Window washing is a job that requires rubber-like protection. The latex or nitrile material is flexible and waterproof. The rubber-like material gives quality flexibility and grip-ability. There are many types of this gloves that are long-lasting or disposable; choosing accordingly to how often you do jobs that require latex or nitrile.

If you do a lot of gardening work, invest in quality knit cotton or polyester materials. They have less flexibility than rubber-like materials, but they offer more flexibility than what you would use in construction jobs. Gardening requires possible exposure to sharp twigs, nails, and thorny buses. So, heavy-duty canvas typically uses leather on the palms to ensure palm safety. They gloves are comfortable and durable.

Nitrile or disposable latex is best used if you deal with poison ivy, nettles, poison oak, or other noxious plants. The noxious plants typically do not clean off easily, even after giving them a quick wash over. When dealing with noxious plants, you should invest in disposable gloves. If you grub blackberries, prune trees, trim thorny citruses, or clip pyracanthas, you would benefit from cowhide hand protection.

Think about these steps when choosing your material. Think about why the material is necessary; protect the product from the hands, protect the hands from the product. You should identify the hazards which you will be working around; extreme temperature, electrical, viruses, abrasions, bacteria, chemicals.
